Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you travel. Airlines and immigration will refuse you with less.

Before you apply

We handle Algeria tourist and business visas. The consulate issues other categories too — if you need one of those, call us and we will tell you whether we can help.

You must have a visa to visit Algeria, and you apply through the Algerian Consulate in the UK before you travel.

Both types need the same core set: two application forms duly completed, dated and signed; two recent passport-sized photographs affixed to each form; and the original passport, valid for at least 6 months, plus one set of copies of the passport pages that carry stamps or visas.

Travel insurance is not required for British and Irish citizens. Fees must be paid in pounds sterling only, and are non-refundable if the application is refused or cancelled.

Applications are lodged in person or by courier from 9:00am to 1:00pm, Tuesday to Friday, with no appointment needed. Postal applications need a prepaid self-addressed special delivery envelope. Processing is generally within 10 working days in person, or at least 15 working days by post.

Visa types

Tourist visa
  1. Two application forms, duly completed, dated and signed by the applicant.
  2. Two recent passport-sized photographs, to be affixed to each application form.
  3. The original passport, valid for at least 6 months, plus one set of copies of the passport pages that contain stamps or visas.
  4. Original and copy of the accommodation certificate, duly certified by the local authorities in Algeria, stating the name of the person inviting you, their relationship to you and the address where you will be staying. Alternatively, a confirmation of a hotel booking, or an official invitation with itinerary from a travel agency in Algeria.
  5. Letter of employment or evidence of activity.
  6. For children under 18, a copy of the birth certificate and a parental authorisation.

No form for you to fill in — we complete the application forms and lodge them at the embassy for you.

Business visa (short stay)
  1. Two application forms, duly completed, dated and signed by the applicant.
  2. Two recent passport-sized photographs, to be affixed to each application form.
  3. The original passport, valid for at least 6 months, plus one set of copies of the passport pages that contain stamps or visas. If you hold more than one passport, please provide them all.
  4. Letter from the employer in the UK or Ireland, stating the position held by the applicant and the purpose of the visit.
  5. Evidence of a letter of invitation from the sponsoring company or institution in Algeria.
