Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you travel. Airlines and immigration will refuse you with less.

There is no single Schengen embassy. You apply to one member state, and which one depends on your itinerary — so there is no one document list that covers every Schengen trip. The routes below are the official rules for choosing.
A Schengen short-stay visa allows a stay of up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the whole Schengen area.
Apply at least 15 days before your intended journey, and no earlier than 6 months beforehand. Processing normally takes 15 days, and can extend to 45 days in complex cases.
You must generally apply at the consulate with territorial responsibility for the country where you are legally resident — for our clients, that is the consulate covering the UK.
